With so many kids wetsuits on the market, knowing where to start can be a daunting task. That's why we've set up this section so you can compare all aspects of kids wetsuits, be it price, quality, style and performance.
There are plenty of deals on kids wetsuits available, making finding a wetsuit to fit your budget easier. If you're buying your first kids wetsuit online here are a few recommendations to help you avoid an expensive or time consuming mistake!
Look for the following when comparing kids wetsuits - even if it is a cheap kids wetsuit, you don't want to overlook some of these basics.
Wetsuit Fit
The worst thing you can do with a wetsuit is get one that fits poorly. You may think that buying a wetsuit to grow into is a practical idea, but if the kids wetsuit is too loose or big it won't do what it is supposed to! This is because unless the wetsuit is tight and flush to the wearer, there is the risk of too much cold water entering the suit and making your child cold quicker. That's why we recommend you check the size measurements including all of neck to crotch, height, chest and waist sizes where possible.
Wetsuit Thickness
Next up after fit is the thickness of the material used to make the wetsuit. This is a fairly obvious one, in that the thicker the neoprene used the more likely your child is to stay warm. Don't be put off by the way thickness is described - for example, a 3/2mm wetsuit doesn't mean three halves, it means 3mm neoprene for the body and 2mm for the arms. The higher the numbers, the thicker the neoprene and the better the kids wetsuit will be in colder waters.
Kids Wetsuit Styles
There are two main styles of kids wetsuit on the market today (there is also a third but less popular three-quarter length children's wetsuit). For summer holidays, swimming pools or warmer waters a shorty kids wetsuit is an ideal choice. If they are going to be splashing around, for a bit of added warmth and for some extra bouyancy, then a shorty, with the added benefit of flexibility, makes the ideal kids wetsuit. A shorty will even makes a great swimming aid and, as any parent will know, getting them in and out of the wetsuit is an awful lot easier!
Alternatively, you could choose a full length kids wetsuit. With full length arms and longer legs a full body kids wetsuit will make for a warmer wearer. If they'll be spending hours in the water, this is a children's wetsuit that should have serious consideration.
